TOYAH
at The Mermaid Theatre, London

Toyah

In June 1983 I went with people from Penhurst School to the Mermaid Theatre, London to see a musical play that was set in a wrestling ring. The play was about a woman wrestler called TRAFFORD TANZI who was supposed to be played by TOYAH WILCOX, however on the performance I saw it was her under-study, although the people I went with swore blind it was TOYAH.

Prior to this TOYAH had been in the pop charts with tracks like IT'S A MYSTERY, GOOD MORNING UNIVERSE, I WANT TO BE FREE, THUNDER IN THE MOUNTAINS, and BRAVE NEW WORLD (which you can hear in the background), this was my favourite at the time as I agreed with the sentiment as I was leaving the school the next month for a 'New Beginning'.

I had my suspicions about it not being TOYAH confirmed when as I was coming out of the theatre she walked pass me to go into the ring.
